Sample tasks may include setting engines or generators, running pipes, installing HVAC systems, or setting toilets, sinks and showers. Experienced heavy equipment operator wanted. We're looking for an individual with experience using mobile cranes, forklifts, and overhead cranes. This individual will be the primary operator for the yard, positioning major boat components and equipment. This position provides an opportunity for the operator to assist in vessel construction in addition to crane operation. Applicant may be involved in training or certifying other operators. Positive attitude required. Must be a team player. Two to four years experience required. Certification preferred. Mechanical experience a definite plus. Bilingual in English and Spanish a definite plus.

SUMMARY: The position is responsible for the creation and tracking of engineering and design drawings for vessels manufactured at Northern Marine Co., LLC, as well as translation of engineering concepts and specifications into working 2D and 3D drawings and models suitable for efficient manufacturing and regulatory approval in accordance with applicable standards. The second key component of this position is to liaise with regulatory agencies and administer transactions to ensure that NMC designs are documented and approved in a timely manner. The ability to coordinate with co-workers, subcontractors and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of accurate information and possession of a high level of technical competency is requited.
1. Working as a member of the engineering team, exercise personal initiative, judgment and analytical capabilities to find and develop sound engineering solutions to common design and manufacturing problems associated with yacht design and construction.
2. Liaise with co-workers, subcontractors and vendors to create high-quality design, production and as-built drawings in a timely manner.
3. Perform quality assurance and documentation functions to ensure proper document control is maintained. In conjunction with designers/engineers and the department manager, confirm that designs are suitable for the intended purpose and fully comply with applicable standards, specifications and regulatory requirements (ABS, MCA, ASTM, etc)
4.Independently administer regulatory body transactions by preparing submittals, responding to comments and obtaining regulatory approval (ABS, MCA) under general guidance from the engineering manager.
5.Maintain accurate records and update drawing/design evolutions and “as-built” information.
6.Strive to improve the effectiveness of the engineering department as a whole by subscribing to a philosophy of “life-long learning”. Actively seek to improve skills by keeping abreast of developments in your field with emphasis on the 2D and 3D software platforms used at Northern Marine and regulatory body rules and regulations.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of community college, technical school or engineering program in a related discipline
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in advanced 3D design and modeling involving complex curves applied to surfaces and solids, parametric modeling, component authoring, and integration of manufactured/purchased part libraries. AutoCAD and UGS NX platform experience in a TeamCenter environment preferred.
