Northern Marine Company, LLC has announced the launch of its second in the series of their 151-foot tri-deck motor yacht, for delivery to an American owner couple. Christened Bella Bri, the new vessel follows the mid-2007 launch of After Eight, the first of the all-composite series. With the launch of the Bella Bri, a third 151 currently under construction, will move forward in production at the company's Anacortes, Wash. yard. Hull #3 is scheduled for completion and delivery early next year.
The newest 151 is one of a series designed by Jonathan Quinn Barnett, with naval architecture by George Roddan, and features a beam of 30' 9" to allow generous interior living spaces. A fully sheltered aft main deck includes a built-in dining banquette just forward of a lateral passageway to facilitate crew access during docking operations. Consistent with the original concept of the 151 series, side decks and other access routes throughout the vessel are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair, and dual stairways lead aft to a teak-clad swim platform. A sliding door opens to the main-deck salon, where a collection of built-in and loose furnishings defines sitting areas on either side.
Paneled partitions separate the salon from a formal dining room; sliding doors close for added privacy, or recede into the partitions for a more open feel. A portside service door offers access to a professional galley arranged with separate areas for provisions storage, cooking and meal service. A hallway along the starboard side leads forward past a broad staircase, entry foyer and day head to a full-beam owners' suite that includes office and sitting areas, vanity and a king-size berth. Just forward is a his-and-hers bathroom with large wardrobes on either side, a jetted tub to port, a marble-lined shower opposite, and in between an enclosure with w.c., bidet and concealed access to an escape hatch consistent with the yacht's MCA and ABS classifications.
Bella Bri's owners have specified an interior motif of paneled joinery in dark-stained makore with crotch veneer insets and contrasting light-hued carpet, wall panels and marble. A paneled lower-deck foyer provides access to four guest suites, two with queen-size island berths and two with king-size island berths. For unobtrusive service and room make-up, a secure passageway leads to a large laundry room, crew mess and four crew staterooms finished to near-guest standards. The yacht has been fitted with an elevator that serves all four levels.
The Northern Marine 151 series was designed to provide good visibility, and to that end features pilot house windows extending well aft on either side to offer clear sight lines for captain and observers alike. Adjacent to the pilot house, the captain’s suite includes a queen berth, private head with shower, and vessel monitoring/communication station. Just aft on this level is a skylounge, with a full service bar, game table and lounge seating are flanked by large view windows. A sliding glass door opens to a sheltered outdoor dining table and a broad aft deck. In order to keep this area clear for sunning and socializing, the yacht's tenders are secured on the foredeck behind high bulwarks.
With its large fixed hardtop, the sun deck offers sunlit and shaded areas in approximately equal measure. The elevator trunk provides structural support for the composite hardtop, eliminating the need for stanchions outboard, thus allowing an uninterrupted superstructure profile. Amenities on this level include a hot tub and sun lounges forward, a bar with grill and four fixed stools, day head and open deck aft for loose lounge furniture.
Twin MTU 12V4000 main engines each produce 2735 h.p. to drive Bella Bri at a 21-knot top speed and a 18-knot cruise. Two 99 kW and one 65 kW generators provide electrical power. The hull features a bulbous bow to improve ride comfort and extend cruise range.
