Dave Mahalko joins Northern Marine as VP of Marketing and Sales.

ANACORTES, Wash., As Northern Marine reorganizes under new ownership, the Anacortes based boat builder has named Dave Mahalko VP of sales and marketing. "Dave and I have worked together over the years and when the position opened up he was my go-to guy," said Ken Kurtenbach, president of Northern Marine. Kurtenbach, also new to the yard, took the leadership reigns following the sale of the company in September of this year.

As a longtime resident of the Northwest and an avid boater, making the jump to Northern Marine was only natural for Mahalko. "I am really impressed with what Northern Marine is building. The boats are truly world class, so I'm very excited to join the team" he said.

Mahalko's background includes 20 years in the plastics industry, most recently as VP of sales for Filtrona Extrusion. Mahalko met Kurtenbach while at Davidson Plastics where he was appointed national sales manager after 8 years with the company. "Dave did a great job for us at Davidson Plastics and I have no doubt he will take that same enthusiasm and put it work at Northern Marine", said Kurtenbach.

The VP position became available when Dennis McCormick announced his resignation in order to refocus his attention on the flight services division for Northern Marine's parent company, Ashton Capital Corporation. "We've had great success so far with our sales efforts and I'm sure Dave will continue to build on it" said McCormick.

Northern Marine was founded in 1995 and builds full and semi displacement luxury yachts ranging from 57' to 151'. Employing over 120 people in the Anacortes community, the yard has delivered over 25 yachts in their 11 years in business.
